What Does “Self-Love” Really Mean

What Does “Self-Love” Really Mean

Strolling around the self-help section of the bookstore with a hot chocolate in hand looking for the secrets to life! I've been there and perhaps you have too?

Self-love can be a LIFE changing experience.

For me it’s shifted the way I feel about my health, my relationships, my career…pretty much every aspect of my life.

Loving yourself is the most powerful force you can build on. And for most of us it can take a lifetime to discover.

But what is it?

Let me break it down for you!

Self Love = reaching your highest potential

The key to endless possibilities. You can’t even imagine the power of believing in yourself to the core.

Ask yourself these questions…

…are you holding yourself back?

…are you putting up with situations or relationships that drain away your energy?

…do you second guess yourself?

If you’ve answered yes to any of these, I’m WITH YOU! So take a deep breath and start with a little bit of reflection. We’ve got some tips to help you along the way.

Tip #1: Healing Is Transformative

Before starting any journey, it’s important to get to the root of what’s blocking your self-love. Our subconscious is completely in charge of taking over our feelings. Get your head in the right state of mind and release yourself from what’s holding you back.

You are good enough. You are smart enough! Feel these words and become them. It all starts within YOU!

Tip #2: Learn to Let Go

You’ve made mistakes, you’ve been through some of the worst moments in your life. Forgive yourself. Forgive what hurt you. This hurt you’re holding onto will bring out judgmental and negative thoughts. Channel your energy into thinking positively. This way you can make healthier choices.

You are loved, you are more than what has happened to you!

Tip #3: Nourish Your Love

When does love ever enter your life? And is that feeling making you warm and cosy?? We’ve all been stuck in a dead end job or a friendship that you’ve just outgrown—you deserve more and better! Challenging situations often hold us back from our full potential. The quicker you realise what will help you grow and outshine your light, the more you’ll nourish your love for yourself.

Life can be really…REALLY tough, never forget to water and tend to what truly needs growth.

Tip #4: Top Priority

Think of this tip as a checklist, what’s always at the top that needs your timely attention? This should be YOU. If you ever feel like someone else is raining on your sunshine, just stop…breathe…and stop giving away negative energy. Shine positivity and make your mental and physical health top priority.

You only have one body…one mind...give it your best!

Tip #5: Consistency

When was the last time you stuck to a routine that wasn’t Starbucks? Self-love has to be practiced daily to increase your positive energy and ease your mind from all the unnecessary stressors. Life can weigh you down-- consider one consistent routine such as medication either in the morning or before going to bed. Flip through a book on mindfulness or even just calling up a loved one will boost your self-love!

The key is to focus on self-care and what will help ease any rough patches.

Now that we’ve laid down a few basics on self-love, practice…practice…practice.

It’s so easy to not be consistent when focusing on ourselves.

Shine light and BECOME THE LIGHT!

Can you imagine how many doors would open if you opened up your heart?

Just as if your body responds to good healthy foods….feed your soul with a big spoonful of love.
